Lean Manufacturing is an operational strategy that shortens the timeline between the customer order and shipment by eliminating waste. It is derived from the Toyota Production System which seeks to increase the value added work by reducing the incidental work.
Here are some of the key Lean Manufacturing principles.
- Continuous improvement – improve quality, increase productivity and reduce costs
- Waste minimization – eliminate all activities that do not add value to the product
- Pull process – products are pulled from the customer, not pushed from the production end
- Flexibility – producing different mixes or greater diversity of product quickly without sacrificing efficiency
Our lean journey started in June of 2005 and during our first year we had 40 employees take more than 1000 hours of classes about lean. The input and suggestions we have had from our employees has been instrumental in our achievements.
As a company we will continue to train and educate all of our employees on lean manufacturing. As our customer, you will get higher quality products and quicker delivery times.
